Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital infrastructure and increasing internet penetration have significantly influenced consumer adoption of e-commerce platforms in India. This study presents an analytical review based on secondary data obtained from published reports, academic journals, and government sources. The primary objective is to examine the key factors driving consumer adoption, including convenience, competitive pricing, product variety, digital payment systems, and trust in online transactions.

The findings reveal that e-commerce adoption is more prominent in urban areas, while rural participation is steadily increasing due to improved connectivity and digital initiatives. The growth of mobile commerce, effective promotional strategies, and advancements in logistics and delivery systems further support this trend. However, concerns related to data security, product authenticity, and after-sales services continue to affect consumer confidence.

The study concludes that e-commerce in India is experiencing sustained and dynamic growth, supported by technological advancements and policy measures. Addressing trust-related issues and infrastructural challenges is essential for ensuring long-term and inclusive development of the sector.
