Ecological innovations and environmental sustainability have become key priorities in India’s development due to rapid industrialization, climate change, and increasing pressure on natural resources. While technology-driven solutions such as renewable energy, waste-to-wealth models, and circular economy practices are expanding, the human dimension of sustainability is equally important. This paper examines the integration of ecological innovations, Human Resource Management (HRM), and tribal knowledge to promote sustainable development.
HRM plays a vital role in developing green skills, encouraging employee participation in sustainability initiatives, and embedding environmental values into organizational practices. At the same time, tribal communities, as custodians of forests and biodiversity, offer sustainable practices based on harmony with nature. Integrating modern HRM approaches—such as green HRM, sustainability training, and eco-performance metrics—with tribal ecological knowledge, including community resource management and traditional conservation methods, can create inclusive sustainability models.
The study highlights examples like bio-resource entrepreneurship, eco-tourism, and community-based renewable energy in tribal regions. It concludes that combining HRM strategies with tribal wisdom can enhance sustainable livelihoods, environmental protection, and organizational responsibility, contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
